Pensacola Energy Is Proud Sponsor of the
University of West Florida (UWF) B.E.S.T. House
Sustainable, durable, affordable housing is a continuing concern for Florida citizens. UWF's B.E.S.T. House is a collaboration of manufacturers, builders and subcontractors, utility and related allies, and professional design and engineering groups to produce a real-world example of modern residential efficiency and sustainability. The B.E.S.T. House is a demonstration house that meets LEED® certification and will be used as an educational tool and resource for Northwest Florida.
The B.E.S.T. House enables UWF and supporting partners to become leaders in this discussion, facilitating opportunities that focus on improving the community, construction-related industries and general life in the region.
Lead architect Don Evans of Orlando said, "This home will show that good architecture and good design can work together to produce something that looks good and is energy smart."
Upon completion, the home will remain open to the public and will undergo periodic renovation in following years to update technology, materials and construction methods.
